Extremely unsatisfied with service, great food

The food was delicious, very well made. It was a bit too spicy when I asked for mild, but still good. The unsettling part is that it took a half hour to just to get the check and boxes, and another ten to pay for it all. They didn't seem concerned when we politely brought up the staff problem.

45 minutes to get boxes and check

Wow, this is bar far the absolute worst service I have ever received. We arrived at 6:15. The waiter took awhile to notice us but then we were seated. We noticed after awhile there was only one waiter, but there were two people tending the grocery area and only 3 other tables so we didn't think service would be slow. Our appetizer was brought first, it only took about ten minutes. Then he brought our drinks and main dishes shortly after. We finished eating, and then waited for a check for 20 minutes. Another 20 minutes later, we asked again, and stood up with our coats on. It then took them another 5 minutes to bring us the box and check! We didn't get out of the restaurant until 8.

Crazy Good!!

I've been to over 20 different Indian Restaurants in several states, including all of them in the Des Moines area, and this place has exceeded them all in the quality of food. We ordered off the menu and everything was amazing! Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Byriani, Naan & Raitha and of course, a mango laasi. We'll be back very soon and often. Don't be fooled by the outward appearance. Once you find the dining room you'll be content in a quiet and separate area away from the grocery store. My reason for writing this review is actually a selfish one.....I want this place to be around a long time. lol

I went for lunch and had the buffet for around $9. I am not a big fan of buffets and would have preferred to order off the menu and they did give me that choice but I decided to keep it simple. THe naan and tandoori chicken were standouts.Everything else I sampled (lentils, spinach, chickpeas, chicken masala) was tasty and well spiced.

Excellent traditional Indian fare
By Caseyra, August 16, 2009

I've had a variety of Eastern meals from various regional restaurants (Indian, Nepalese, Paki, etc) and for a traditional kitchen, small but comfortable dining area, and a western style buffet, you aren't going to find anything better for your buck than Namaste in the Des Moines area.
The staff is friendly, courteous, and they're very willing to adjust meals to your taste for spice or special ingredients.
I highly recommend the Chicken Korma and the garlic Naan.

Bad food Coupled with Bad Service

Namaste India is by far the worst Indian Restaurant I had ever eaten. I ordered Lamb Biryani and Chicken Korma when I visited the restaurant last week. The lamb Biryani can least be called Lamb Biryani as it contained peices of rubbery chunks of lamb which I can't even chew. The Chicken Korma smelled so bad that I can't even tried to put into my mouth. I called the waiter and reported the same and his answer was "I should know before I ordered". This was the least answer I expected. How can i know that they cook only once in 7 days? How could I know they will use the expired ingredients from the grocery store they had next door which stands in their ownership? When I signed the check at the end, the waitor immediately opened the signed receipt before me to check what tip I had quoted. This is the worst experience I had at any Indian Restaurant. I gave 1 Star for everyhing and can't give it anything lower as 1 Star is the least rating available.
