A Des Moines Staple-and a treat!

I dont get to eat at this Des Moines classic too often, so when I do, its always a treat. Des Moines has so many amazing Italian options, and the Latin King is one of my favorites. You cant go wrong with the Chicken Spadini.

When I moved to Des Moines I was excited to learn about the Latin King - all I heard was rave reviews. I am sad to report that I was INCREDIBLY disappointed. The salad was made with yellow iceberg lettuce and the house dressing is a clumpy and orange goop right off the food distributor truck. The pasta was overcooked and the thin, bland sauce gave me flashbacks to my grade school cafeteria days. If you like Italian food from a 1950s Betty Crocker Cookbook this is your place and you want crappy pasta I would suggest saving your money and hit the drive-thru at Fazoli's.

Solid dining

I travel across the U.S. and get the opportunity to eat at many restaurants. When I'm in Des Moines, The Latin King is THE place I make a point of dining at. Going from city to city I see many chain restaurants come and go, but it is always feels good to arrive at the doors of the Latin King.

The best chicken you will ever eat

Latin King is my whole family's favorite restaurant. when you walk in the door, Bob just makes you feel welcome. You can have a cocktail in the lounge and eat some popcorn. Or just head straight for dinner.
When ordering, you must try the Chicken Spiedini. It is the best meal you will eat. I perfer it over noodles with a side of marinara sauce.
This place is a must place to eat.
