I ate there for the first time last Saturday. Very nice atmosphere. I tried the pizza and spaghetti. The spaghetti was good and the pizza was fantastic. One of the best pizzas I have had. The crust was crisp but not hard and the pizza had a buttery flavor to it. They do not have a liquor license but you can bring in your own wine which is nice. If you like pizza I would definitely give this place a try.

I want to love Marino's because its quality food, a neighborhood joint and you can bring in your own wine. However, the slow service was frustrating the last time I visited. I am wiling to wait for good food, especially if its a neighborhood spot with Marinos and I know they are making quality home made food. However, we had to wait at least 45 minutes for our food, and it gets hard when you are starving! I ordered the eggplant parm and my fiance the meatball parmigiana/ Both of our dishes were delicious, and we had plenty to bring home for leftovers the next day.

One of the below reviews said it was better when they didnt have their liquor license-but I dont think they do? Maybe I am wrong, but people around us were bringing their own bottles in, and I didnt see any beer or wine license. Im going to visit again for sure, because I loved the atmosphere and the idea of Marino's, but there is better Italian food in Des Moines, with better service.

I know people that love Marino's, though it used to be better when they didn't have a liquor license and you could bring all the wine you want, no fee. There are no surprise dishes, just pasta + red sauce + cheese. Good value...And yes, it is slow.

We ate at Marino's last night and the food was better than average.

I ate pizza and it was better than most in the Des Moines area. The people that were with me ate pasta dishes and they raved about them.

The drawback that we experienced, was that the service was slow. I'm not sure if they didn't have enough help, or, if the kitchen was too far away from the dining area to be effecient.

Although we liked it. I won't be back for a while--though I will be back.
