Open Sesame

Though small, the building was relatively easy to find. On the outside, the building was very plain except for the sign, which was bright and cursivy. The interior of the building was small and cozy, and the staff were nice. The ceiling was decorated with drapes and hanging lanterns, and the walls were covered with hanging paintings and were painted to symbolize the curved domes of Lebanese architecture. Instead of electric lights, there were candles at each table which made for a very romantic setting and may be the location of my future dates. The best part, though, was the food. The menu was slightly limited, but varied enough that all six members of my family could order something different that fit their individual tastes. I got the gyro and it was honestly the best gyro I have ever tasted. I also know (from tasting other plates at my table) that the shwarma and the rice are also very tasty. The Turkish Coffee(which is traditional drunk as desert) was also good. Apart from the coffee, there were no desert which was just fine because my meal filled me up. Overall it was an very enjoyable cultural experience, and I am definitely going again(soon hopefully). I recommend this restaurant to anyone hoping to try new foods and become immersed into a new culture.

Open sesame was a great cultural experience. This restaurant is a small, quiet and dimly lit with Arabic music playing quiet. The food is garlicky and they use several spices from Lebanon. I really liked this restaurant and would like to go again sometime. I think it would be fun to take some friends and go eat. I would recommend this restaurant to my family.

I am not a picky person and I always try to look for the good in dining experiences. However, I went to Open Sesame on a recent evening and it was a big letdown. I'd heard such great things about it and I was just not impressed.
Everything on the menu seems to be about 25% overpriced. Really, $7 for a plate of hummus? I will say that the pitas were good and seemed freshly made.
I ordered a falafel salad, and while it looked nice at first, it was drenched in water that pooled at the bottom. It made the falafel soggy, and there is nothing worse than soggy falafel.
My dining companion liked his gyro just fine, not the best nor the worst he's had. It was the most expensive though.

Everything at Open Sesame was excellent, except for the falafel. I liked the hummus, the baba ghanoush was good (not amazing) but the falafel was dry and not very tasty. The salad was fine, and I would come back, but I will not order falafel again. The service is quite good--attentive and not overbearing.

I ate at Open Sesame last night with some girl friends. Half of the group had been there before and raved about the food. I couldnt have been happier with my meal! We ordered the spicy hummus to start wtih, and it was fantastic. Beware though, it was a lot spicier than I expected. For my meal, I went with the Kibbeh (excuse my spelling) Plate. I was in love with the tangy yogurt, tabouli and what looked liked groud meat balls. Everything was fabulous!! I seriously cannot wait to go back. The service could have been better, but I am hoping they are just working out some kinks in that department. The bartender was great, and helped our table when our server was less than stellar. Cannot wait to go back and bring people to experience it!

Being a vegan, it is absolutely wonderful to find a restuarant with so much to offer. I've had both the vegetarian plate and mousaka. Both were wonderful with outstanding wine. It isn't a family restuarant but last Thursday evening we had my three year old grand daughter from out of town and they accomodated her.

Decided to give this place a try and what a great find! The owner was amazing and friendly and not only took our order and served our food but was attentive and chatted with us for a bit. The food was amazing, I would compare it to Chubby's on Broadway in Kansas City, the atmosphere was perfect, classic diner meets modern. Cheap meal, amazing food, friendly place, what more could you want? I am going back for the breakfast menu!

Baby Boomers serves great food in a diner atmosphere. It's nothing more...nothing less. I'd recommend the bacon cheese burger & fries here. The only drawback is that they don't serve dinner. Just breakfast and lunch.
