Went last night and had the food in literally 5 minutes. Service was good except our waitress wasn't sure what Chicharrone was (a pretty tasty marinated pork rind is the answer). I was disappointed in the menu change. We were just looking for some mexican fare and their taco, burrito, and enchilada prices have soared. There are plenty of new fusion dishes on the menu - some that I'll go back and try - but frankly the ambiance isn't on par with the $20 plates.

I went for lunch this week and had my food in 10 minutes. The pizza was perfect, and the service was great. Check it out for lunch and see if there is a difference. I did talk to the owner and they intimated that they had some growing pains, but were working them out.

Nothing has changed new2dsm. I went there on a Saturday night in mid January. They had plenty of tables and it took one hours for our food to come to the table (party of 4). They ran out a margaritas and the tacos and enchiladas were dry and bland. To top it off, we were overcharged.

new2dsm: I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Sounds like they got slammed from recent good press. I hope you'll try them again....and if you do, let us know what you found! Thanks, W.E.

Thanks for the update with the address and hours. Unfortunately, after finding the restaurant, the place was in a state of utter chaos!!! We waited for roughly thirty minutes (even though there were plenty of open tables), watched meal after meal be sent back to the kitchen for being incorrect, saw at least one couple leave due to the lack of service and, after asking the hostess how long food took to come out of the kitchen and being told, "The kitchen is really slow tonight. Maybe 45 minutes.", we decided to leave without eating. Here's hoping they get the kinks worked out and we can go back and try some of the delicious food described in the review.

Hi new2dsm: On Metromix, when we have an article about an event or a restaurant review, we usually have addresses listed on the right. If you look on the right side of the page, you'll see there's a box that says El Chisme with the address - you can click on that for full details on the restaurant. We try to have complete information on every restaurant in town on the site!

Hi new2dsm, I've added the address and hours for the restaurant to the review. Thanks!

An article about a restaurant in a new location would be more helpful if it included the address of said restaurant. Being new to Des Moines, I do not know where Cafe Su was.

I've been excited to check out El Chisme's new location since they re-opened, and this only makes me want to visit more. You're spot on about the shrimp - it was the standout to me when I tried a shrimp scampi pasta dish at the old location - so good that I raved about the shrimp for days.
