2010 Restaurant trends of the year
5. Fair wine prices continue: While there are still plenty of high-priced wines out there - often worth every penny for the enthusiast - I found plenty of places offering affordable choices as well. This year I discovered Splash’s selection of forty bottles priced at $20 each, as well as some $5 by-the-glass choices; Bagni di Lucca’s well-purveyed $7 choices; and an admirable policy at Skip’s: You can order a half or even a quarter of a glass of wine if that’s all you need to polish off that meal. No corkage fee continues at Café Fuzion, Django and Azalea, and Splash also climbed aboard that merry bandwagon. Café di Scala will sometimes waive the corkage fee (they’ll tell you when on twitter @cafediscala).
