They Don't Care

I've been to this place twice now. Both times it seems like it was their opening night because the staff seemed overwhelmed both times. The food is okay, but nothing to rave about, especially when you consider the prices. Last night we went for a birthday with 6 of us total. Only about half of our drink order made it to the table, we had to ask for the rest of the drinks twice before we got all of them. Refills had to be asked half the time. They knew they were struggling. (and this was a Monday night)

Then it was time for the ticket and we waited for at least 20 mins bc they screwed up how they entered it into the system. They kept apologizing and finally wrote our totals on a piece of paper so we could hand them our money! A birthday, terrible service, no bill, and they could do nothing but say sorry?! Never once were we offered to discount any meals, gift card, nothing. Based on previous reviews, they clearly don't care about repeat business. I didn't expect a free meal by any means, but we were extremely patient (when we probably just should have got up and left). They will never have my business again.

Whoops...

My wife and I have been there once before and it was EXCELLENT, tonight was bad. We were they way early (maybe that was the issue) but I had ordered the steal de burgo special and was seriously disappointed. The back side of the steak had a big string of a tendon type, sinewy, piece of something that made me unable to finish the last third of the steak. The waitress was a little behind on checking with us, so by the time I talked to her my wife was nearly done with her meal. She offered another steak but I didnt want to wait for it, so I finished the potato. We got an apology and the check, not even an offer to comp a drink or anything. Being in a service industry, I was a little surprised. We WON"T be back.

The letter I sent John & Nicks regarding the poor service - should explain itself

I would like to share the story of my family and my visit to this restaurant one evening to celebrate my father's birthday. We were greeted and seated quickly and had drinks and our orders taken within a reasonable amount of time. There was a bit of a wait for our food to come, but the restaurant was relatively busy, so we understood.

When our plates were delivered, we noticed a very unpleasant smell accompanied them. Upon a "sniffing" investigation of all of the food and surrounding areas, we discovered that our plates smelled as though they had been washed with week old dish rags (to be frank - they smelled like a cat had urinated on them). We immediately reported this, and our plates were whisked away, we received an apology and were informed that they were having issues with the dish washer recently and this individual would more than likely be fired for this. We were even advised that they were able to smell what we were referring to.

We had to wait an additional 20 minutes or so for our food to be remade, and once it was delivered, we once again smelled the same odor, only this time it was not nearly as pungent. We were advised that the cook believed it may have been the sauce he was using on the steaks, though why someone would use a sauce that smells of cat urine is beyond me. We smelled the steaks and all of the food and none of it smelled anything like the horrible odor. At this point, our appetites had been ruined, so we ate what we could, and asked to box most of it. (I personally didn't touch the main course, and my husband and parents ate maybe a fourth of their food).

When we received our bill, we asked to speak with a manager about the evening, as we had decided that we were not going to take most of the food with us for fear of becoming ill. We asked the manager if there was anything she could do for us, and her response was rather unpleasant. We all witnessed that she rolled her eyes, then very huffily said "Give me a minute." and stormed away. While we waited, we all noticed that our hands smelled of this unpleasant odor, so we took turns visiting the restrooms to wash them. She returned in about 5-10 minutes and said that all she could do was 20% off the bill. We never received an apology from her, nor any sensitivity toward the fact that we were paying for food that we weren't going to eat due to unclean plates.

We are hoping that this will be addressed and taken care of. At this point, we have no intention of ever returning to this restaurant, and we will give our honest opinions if ever asked what we think of it. My father's birthday was basically ruined and he kept apologizing for choosing such a bad location to celebrate. I don't generally get upset about things like this, but the fact that he was so let down on his birthday really upset my husband and me. Please address this so others don't suffer the same fate as we did tonight.

Our server Holly was very pleasant, friendly and attentive our entire me

Ate there for the first time on Saturday, Service was terrible, I had to ask for water 3 times, they were totally unorganized. The food was plain and tasteless. The potatoes were cold, the salad bar 1/2 stocked. My daughter decided to try it last night....guess what same experience. Terrible place, Save your money and don't buy the gift certificates cuz they will soon be out of business

$55.00 down the drain

We have been to John and Nicks several times and have always gotten great service and excellent meals. However, on this past Saturday night things were not the same. We were seated right away which was great, however, after 10 minutes the guy who was filling the salad bars stops and asks if we have been helped. I told him no not at all! Instantly another waitress came to our table just as Stacie our waitress brought us water. We had our menus sitting on the edge of the table since we had been sitting there so long we already knew what we wanted. She comes, brings us our drinks and pushes the menus back in front of us. We order and go to the salad bar and no bread comes, no bread comes, no bread comes so I finally ask her if we can have some. "Oh certainly she replies!" Our food gets there and the steaks were like shoe leather, both my husbands and mine. So for $55.00 I basically had 3 shrimp and a baked potato, my husband 1/2 steak and spaghetti. We are willing to try it one more time as we have always been pleased but if it happens again we won't be going to this establishment anymore. I hope the owner looks at these reviews.

Not worth your time

We went to John and Nick's on a Friday night and had a short wait. So not to bad at that point. When we were seated at our table thankfully we had already got a few beers from the bar during our wait b/c we didn't see our waitress for close to 10 minutes. We didn't get what we ordered, we asked for the bread that is suppose to come with our mean and never got it, our meat was undercooked and wewent our whole dinner w/ no drinks although we had asked for them. Upon finally returning to our table we made our waitress aware that we didn't get the side we ordered or the bread we asked for and she send and......
I also overheard the table behind us as they got their meal and the gentleman was given the wrong order as well. Save your time the service was AWFUL and the food really wans't worth it either.

Will never go back there again!

We went there last Saturday at 8pm when the dinner rush is over. When we arrived we could see seats but were told it would be a few minutes. Obviously to get you to go to the bar first. When the host saw that we didn't head to the bar he seated us in the booth by the door that had been open when we came. Rebecca took 10 minutes to stop by and ask about drinks. We asked about wine. She then went to get a wine menu which should have been left with the menus. She came back and we had to rush for a wine since she didn't allow anytime to look at the menu. She took the order and it was a 43 minute wait with no food. My wife had already taken her insulin. She told another waitress that she was a diabetic who said she would check on it. Rebecca then brought out the bread and salad together. Hint the bread comes after ordering to nibble on while you wait. We finished eating and we could hear the second waitress telling the host at the front door around the corner 10' away "that she was a diabetic" mockingly. For your information people go into insulin shock when they have taken their insulin then are forced to wait 45 minutes for any food. You employees need to learn how and when to bring what items. Then they need to learn compassion and not knock your customers while they are seated 10' away. We will never darken your doorstep again with our business since there are plenty of reputable dining establishments in town. People don't have to be served by Rubes like you employee when there is a perfectly great steak house by that name within 3 miles.
