Favorite Breakfast Spots After a Long Night Out
After a late night out-few things can make you feel better, however a tasty breakfast can certainly help! These are some of my favorite spots for a good meal, and those great morning after laughs.

Waveland Cafe -
4708 University Ave. - Des Moines (Des Moines Metro)
Report this commentIf you havent been to this neighborhood favorite-Go! However, get there early if you can because its often jam packed. There isnt an area to wait-so the lines usualy go out the door. Its up to you to watch for an available table-as there is no host/hostess. You find hungover twenty-somethings, families after church, regulars and pretty much anyone else. If you like greasy shredded hashbrowns (the best breakfast food in my opinion), youll love the Waveland Cafe. They offer "hashbrowns with everything" and are topped with cheese and veggies. Everything from the skillets to the chocolate chip pancakes is amazing for breakfast. They offer a lunch and dinner menu as well, with regular diner favorites. The Waveland is one of the most unique restaurants in Des Moines, truly dining experience-not just a meal.

Bruegger's Bagel -
3730 Ingersoll Ave. - Des Moines (Ingersoll Avenue)
Report this commentSometimes you just cant stomach a greasy breakfast, and there is nothing like some delicious carbs to soak up your work from the night before. My boyfriend always orders the sausage, egg and cheese bagel, while I love to order one of the lunch sandwiches-one of the best parts about Brueggers, you can order any sandwich no matter what time of the day. While its not the best for you, I feel a little less guilty about eating here and discussing the night, then chowing down fast food..

Palmer's Deli and Market -
2843 Ingersoll Ave. - Des Moines (Ingersoll Avenue)
Report this commentI used to be quite a regular at Palmers for lunch or dinner. Because of my work location and schedule, I dont get there as often. However, their multiple locations make it convenient to get there. The food is always fresh and of high quality. I recently had the opportunity to eat breakfast at the Ingersoll location (the only one that serves it) and am so happy I can say that its as good (if not better) than their soups, sandwiches and salads. No wonder Hillary Clinton stopped here on her campaign trail. I recommend their specialty eggs benedict dish, but there are some good options to help you eat healthy if thats what you are feeling like. http://palmersdeliandmarket.com/promo_ing-brkfst.php

University Library Cafe -
3506 University Ave. - Des Moines (Drake)
Report this commentOne of the best spots for a burger in Des Moines! The Library is a classic "hole in the wall" spot that could easily be featured on the show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. A ton of character, friendly staff and great food.

Gyros!
I love everything about gyros! The Des Moines metropolitan area is not filled with Greek restaurants like some larger metro areas, but these are a few of my favorites.
