My Favorite Coffee Shops

My top places to grab a coffee or tea, maybe a light lunch and catch up on my writing or with friends.

    Zanzibar's Coffee Adventure

    Zanzibar's Coffee Adventure - 4

2723 Ingersoll Ave. - Des Moines (Ingersoll Avenue)

I absolutely love this place! The staff is friendly, atmosphere funky yet comfortable and the drinks always leave me satisfied and happy. It doesnt have a ton of space-so not ideal for a larger group, but nice to meet one or two other people. Meeting my mom here on a Saturday morning for breakfast is one of my favorite things to do!

    Ritual Cafe

    Ritual Cafe - 5

1301 Locust St., Suite D - Des Moines (Downtown)

I recently wrote in a review that this is my favorite coffee shop in Des Moines-and I meant it. The atmosphere is just amazing-with a stage that holds comfy leather couches and can be used for events as well. It was such a pleasure to meet the owners, as you can tell they really love what they do and take pride in their work. The Divine Chai is my favorite-and the mostly vegetarian menu is tastey, even to those of us that love meat. I have never been for breakfast, but its on my to-do list!

    Caribou Coffee - 4

3220 Ingersoll Ave. - Des Moines (Ingersoll Avenue)

I dont usually pick chains as my favorite spots, but I have to admit I just love Caribou! I grew up in the Twin Cities going to Caribou, so it was quite nostalgic when we got one in Des Moines. I prefer their coffee and products to Starbucks-and the atmosphere inside is usually much better than Starbucks. Most of them have drive-thrus now as well-making it just as convenient as Starbucks.

Gyros!

I love everything about gyros! The Des Moines metropolitan area is not filled with Greek restaurants like some larger metro areas, but these are a few of my favorites.
