Lunch Break!
These are my favorite spots to get lunch during my 1 hour break when I want to chat with coworkers or escape my cube!
-
1
Battle's Southern Select Bar-B-Q -
218 Welch Ave. - Ames (ISU Campustown)
Report this commentThe best bbq in Ames! I absolutely love their bbq sauce and pour it over my whole lunch! They are often pretty busy, so I try to go earlier, but they are very efficient and move fast.

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich -
135 Welch Ave. - Ames (ISU Campustown)
Report this commentMy entire office has a bit of an obsession with this place. have you ever heard their slogan, "so fast, youll freak". True story. One day I ordered in from my desk and they were at my office in 7 minutes. Wow!

Samurai Sushi & Hibachi -
7125 Mills Civic Parkway, Suite 110 - West Des Moines (Jordan Creek)
Report this commentThe best sushi in Ames by far. My coworkers and I about once every two weeks and its always such a fun event! Sometimes I get a bit nervous about getting back to the office in time-but it generally works out. They have a fantastic lunch special that comes with two or three rolls and soup or salad. We like to do that and then order a specialty roll to spit between everyone. Its a more expensive lunch at around $15, but worth it!

Pita Pit -
114 Welch Ave. - Ames (ISU Campustown)
Report this commentI love that I can get a quick and healthy lunch here. You can make your pita as nutritious or naughty as you would like here. They have tons of toppings and condiments and I visit Pita Pit when I only have about half an hour as opposed to the full hour. They are a bit messy to bring back to my desk, despite the tight wrap job the employees do.

5
La Fuente Mexican Restaurant -
217 S. Duff Ave. - Ames (Central Iowa)
Report this commentThis is our go-to spot for Mexican at work. They are fast, affordable and delicious, making La Fuente the ultimate lunch break spot. My only problem here is that its hard to avoid over eating and getting insanely full from all of the chips and salsa. I often want to crawl under my desk and take a little nap after La Fuente!

6
Bruegger's Bagel Bakery -
539 Lincoln Way, Suite 1000 - Ames (Downtown Ames)
Report this commentBrueggers is one of my favorite places to eat-ever. As crazy as it may sound, I could literally eat here for every meal! Its great for lunch, although sometimes really busy. This is another spot where I try to go earlier or later. I love ordering a bagel sandwich, chips and reading the paper. The staff in Ames is very friendly and efficient.

Starbucks, Hy-Vee Food Store -
410 N. Ankeny Blvd. - Ankeny (Suburbs)
Report this commentThere are time periods where my friends and I go to eat at Hy-Vee about once a week. Hy-vee is the ultimate lunch break spot because it has so many different options for those craving different types of food, its fast and its cheap. I usually always get the all you can eat salad bar for $5.99. I can usually leave feeling pretty good about my food habits for the day here too, as they offer a lot of healthy choices in the salad bar. If your feeling like something different then have pizza, chinese, sandwiches, other prepared meals and hot food at the deli counter. Or, do what we used to in college and get the Grand Buffett for $12 and you can eat all of that!
