My Favorite Spots for Asian Food
I often crave chinese food, although I love many kinds of Asian food as well. From Hyvee to the most authentic-these are some of my favorites.

Chinese Home Cooking -
2702 Lincoln Way - Ames (ISU Campustown)
Report this commentThis is my favorite spot for Chinese in Ames. Its extremely authentic and always delicious. Their menu is much more extensive than most American Chinese restaurants.

Thai Flavors -
1254 E. 14th St. - Des Moines (Des Moines Metro)
Report this commentThis is some of the best Thai food Ive had in the Des Moines area. It's not much for atmosphere, but the food is great. My favorite are their noodle dishes, although I love their beef ones as well!

Spice, The -
402 Main St. - Ames (Downtown Ames)
Report this commentThe Spice is a wonderful addition to the Ames restaurant scene. Besides the fabulous food, its a beautiful restaurant and wonderful for a special event or entertaining guests. Ive dined here with work colleagues before and although they were from San Francisco, they thought it was some of the best Thai food they had ever had.

A Dong -
1511 High St. - Des Moines (Downtown)
Report this commentA classic and much loved place in Des Moines! A Dong uses fresh ingredients to create a plethora of delicious dishes. If you like Asian food, they certainly have something for you. I have always loved the service and "family" feel that you get when you eat there. You almost feel as if you are a guest in their home.

P.F. Chang's China Bistro -
110 S. Jordan Creek Parkway - West Des Moines (Jordan Creek)
Report this commentThis chain restaurant just had to make my list. I appreciate the fact that when I travel for work and see a PF Changs, I know that I can count on a good meal if I dont feel like seeking out a meal that night. They have healthy an indulgent meals, not to mention a great drink menu. Their famous lettuce wraps are my favorite. I love the sauces they mix together to add to the wraps. The Dan Dan noodles is one of my favorite dishes.

Cafe Su -
225 Fifth St. - West Des Moines (Valley Junction)
Report this commentCafe Su is a bit different than many spots here in Des Moines. They serve what could be thought of as more gourmet chinese food-and the prices reflect that. Its a great atmosphere at the restaurant in Valley Junction. While a bit pricier, Ive always really enjoyed my meals here. Its truly a perfect spot for a nice dinner out with friends. A major plus-they dip their fortune cookies in college!

Gyros!
I love everything about gyros! The Des Moines metropolitan area is not filled with Greek restaurants like some larger metro areas, but these are a few of my favorites.
My top spots to bring out of towners
When people come from out of town, I love to pick spots that really showcase Des Moines, and tell visitors we arent just some small town.
Updated Never Been, Need to Go list
I have no visited a handful of the spots on my old lists, but of course there are now new ones to add!
