When Im craving a delicious sandwich

A good sandwich might be my very favorite food. Im a huge fan of deli's and Des Moines has some pretty good spots no matter what type Im craving.

    Manhattan Deli

    Manhattan Deli - 5

3705 Ingersoll Ave. - Des Moines (Ingersoll Avenue)

Manhatten Deli is definitely in my top 3 for sandwich spots in town. They are mom and pop type of business with fresh an quality ingredients. I have such a hard time choosing what to get here-loved the bbq beef and the vito!

    The Royal Mile

    The Royal Mile - 4 1/2

210 Fourth St. - Des Moines (Court Avenue District)

You may not think of the Royal Mile as being a sandwich spot, but they have an amazing one called the Earl of Sandwich-try it!

    Palmer's Deli and Market

    Palmer's Deli and Market - 5

2843 Ingersoll Ave. - Des Moines (Ingersoll Avenue)

Palmers has so many great options for sandwiches but my all time favorite is the Cowboy, grilled. Its rye bread with roast beef, peper jack and cojack cheese, red onions and western sauce. It decent as a cold sandwich, but totally amazing as a grilled one. The taste of the hot western sauce and the red onions together is a party in my mouth.

    Bauder's Pharmacy

    Bauder's Pharmacy - 4

3802 Ingersoll Ave. - Des Moines (Ingersoll Avenue)

I worked at Bauders all throughout highschool and came to really love their signature sandwich, the Roosevelt. Its turkey and swiss with Mustard on a hoagie bun. Being a Dowling Alum, my fellow Dowling co-worker and I created our own version with turkey, swiss and mayo on a hoagie bun-creatively titled, the Dowling.

    South Union Bread Cafe

    South Union Bread Cafe - 4 1/2

1011 Locust St. - Des Moines (Downtown)

Getting hungry for South Union just talking about it. They are usually always packed, but very effiicent. I love their classic Italian sandwich, and of course the home-baked bread really makese it a A+ sandwich.

    Bruegger's Bagel - 4 1/2

3730 Ingersoll Ave. - Des Moines (Ingersoll Avenue)

I could eat bagels every day of my life, and I always go for the bagel sandwich at Brueggers. Its hard to pick a favorite, because I have so many here. Their ever popular Herby turkey is one of my favorites, but I also love their newly added bread sandwich menu, which I like to throw onto my favorite bagel. You can order of the menu or choose your own deli sandwich. If your a vegetarian-try the Leonardo Da Veggie-one of my other favorites with cheese and veggies.

Gyros!

I love everything about gyros! The Des Moines metropolitan area is not filled with Greek restaurants like some larger metro areas, but these are a few of my favorites.
