My favorite burger spots

Everyone loves the good old all-American burger. Sometimes I'm in the mood for the classic cheeseburger, and sometimes I like more of a twist. Here are some of my favorite spots.

    Smashburger

    Smashburger - 3 1/2

1821 22nd St #106 - West Des Moines (Des Moines Metro)

The newest addition to my favorite burger list. I have only tried one variation here, the classic smashburger-but it was amazing. I absolutely love the fact that the bread is "smashed" and fairly thin, not to overtake the greasy, awesome burger.

    University Library Cafe - 5

3506 University Ave. - Des Moines (Drake)

One of the very best burgers in town-and a great place to hangout!

    Red Robin Gourmet Burgers

    Red Robin Gourmet Burgers - 4 1/2

6255 Mills Civic Parkway - West Des Moines (Jordan Creek)

Two words: Bonzai Burger. This amazing burger is marinated in terriyaki, and topped with cheese, pineapple, lettuce and mayo. The ingredients all melt together and blend with the pineapple to create a fabulous combination. Yum, hungry just thinking about it...

    B-Bop's Burgers, Fries, Cola - 5

1105 73rd St. - Windsor Heights (Des Moines Metro)

B-Bops definitely has my favorite fries in town, and thankfully they have a really awesome burger too. I love that they put mayo on their burgers-a guilty pleasure of mine.

Burger wars: Francie’s Con Queso Burger

Burger wars: Francie’s Con Queso Burger

    By Sarah Dose - November 11, 2008

Francies Con Queso burger is totally different than anything Ive had before. Basically its a topless burger with a heaping pour of spicy cheese. Although ketchup isnt necessary, as a condiment lover-I like to pour it over the top and dip Francie's delicious crinkly cut fries into everything. Heaven.

Gyros!

I love everything about gyros! The Des Moines metropolitan area is not filled with Greek restaurants like some larger metro areas, but these are a few of my favorites.

My top spots to bring out of towners

When people come from out of town, I love to pick spots that really showcase Des Moines, and tell visitors we arent just some small town.

Updated Never Been, Need to Go list

I have no visited a handful of the spots on my old lists, but of course there are now new ones to add!
