Hangover Breakfast!!!!!!!!!!!!1 /cough

I freaking love breakfast and I'm freaking hungover. Here is a list of where to get a damn breakfast to subdue that beer gnome punching you in the gut with a fistpack of rolled up quarters.

    Waveland Cafe

    Waveland Cafe - 2 1/2

4708 University Ave. - Des Moines (Des Moines Metro)

I probably eat at Waveland Cafe about twice a week and always order the same breakfast because it's that damn good. I recommend the western omelet with a side of sourdough toast which is freaking awesome. Also the waitresses remind me of my abandoned mother...... I love ya ma...why don't you ever write me? My letters keep comming back as "invalid address", I guess Valhalla doesn't have a zip code huh. Is my goldfish with you too??

    China Cafe

    China Cafe - 5

5969 Merle Hay Road, Suite B - Johnston (Des Moines Metro)

China Cafe has pretty good chinese food but it sucks for breakfast...it's more of a lunch place since you'll be hungry again in 2 hours and hey it's Dinner time by then anyway! The place I'm really recommending for breakfast (and they don't have a review..yet) is BrickHouse Cafe, which is half a block south of china cafe across the street from Greenbriar, next to a dentist office...which has a hot receptionist. Anywho, Brickhouse is the best breakfast in town! I eat at Brickhouse every Saturday and Sunday mornings to cure my fits of alcoholic rage. The Brickhouse Breakfast is massive with 3 eggs, 4 strips of bacon, little smokeys, toast, and swedish pancakes or biskets and gravey. The Biskets and Gravey is the best in town. Brickhouse is family owned and run by a mother and her daughters which are abolsute saints! They know hangovers and they put alittle more love into your sad life.

    Flannigan's - 0

    501 First Ave. - Coralville

Flannigan's only has breakfast on the weekends and hits the spot with the right amount of grease and carbs. I recommend the "oh my god omelet" that is jammed pack with bits of dead animals and screaming vegetables. They also have killer Mimosas which helps to regain your lost $100 dollar buzz from the night before!

Granite City Food Emporium and Brewery

Granite City Food Emporium and Brewery - 3 1/2

12801 University Ave. - Clive (Des Moines Metro)

I hear Granite City has a great breakfast buffet, but every time I try to go there they are closed. WTF is up with that huh? Or it could have been the fact it that it was Christmas or something...I don't know....I worship a different god.....the viking god "Oden". Except he doesen't give sissy presents on his birthday, he just requires the blood from your shin bone when you fall down the bar stairs.

    La Mie Bakery and Restaurant

La Mie Bakery and Restaurant - 4

    841 42nd St. - Des Moines (Drake)

I had a big problem with French ever since I saw "Saving Private Ryan". But a friend recommended to me to try La Mie for breakfast and I do have to say it cured my hangover! The crepes are especially good but damn I need like 15 just to get a meal! What is up with that? Just because I'm hypoglosimic after a week of binge drinking doesn't mean give me two crepes and a strawberry, give me a smile and a stack 3 apples high! (3 apples high = the height of the average Smurf...which the french love...and Jerry Lewis...and mullets....and crazy glass pyramids)

Gyros!

I love everything about gyros! The Des Moines metropolitan area is not filled with Greek restaurants like some larger metro areas, but these are a few of my favorites.
